IRGC NAVY SENIOR LEADERSHIP ELIMINATED IN BANDAR ABBAS: The IDF says an overnight Israeli Air Force strike in Bandar Abbas, based on precise IDF and Navy intelligence, eliminated IRGC Navy commander Alireza Tangsiri and Head of the IRGC Navy Intelligence Directorate Behnam Rezaei.
Tangsiri, who led the IRGC Navy for the past eight years, held several senior positions and oversaw the regime’s maritime activity in the Persian Gulf. The IDF says he was responsible for attacks on oil tankers and commercial vessels, threatened freedom of navigation and trade in the Strait of Hormuz, and during Operation Roaring Lion led efforts to close the strait and advance maritime terror activity.
The IDF says Tangsiri was also under numerous international sanctions for direct involvement in attacks on vessels in international waters and in the transfer of air defense systems and UAVs to Russia and Syria.
Rezaei served for years as head of the IRGC Navy Intelligence Directorate and was described by the IDF as a central authority in maritime intelligence. The IDF says he was responsible for intelligence collection on regional countries and for cooperation with multiple intelligence organizations.
According to the IDF, the elimination of the IRGC Navy’s senior leadership is another significant blow to the IRGC’s command-and-control structure and its ability to direct maritime terror activity against countries in the region.
Houthi readiness and maritime threat: The Houthis say they are “fully militarily ready with all options” to join the war if needed.
This raises concern over Red Sea shipping, particularly the Bab al-Mandab chokepoint, which could be targeted if Iran’s situation worsens, according to Reuters.
Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen, stated that Iranian strikes are achieving their objectives and are successfully targeting and damaging U.S. bases and Israeli assets.
He framed current regional alignment as coordinated support for Palestinians and Lebanon, and as part of efforts to counter what he described as violations in Syria and threats extending to Egypt, Jordan, and the Arabian Peninsula.
Al-Houthi emphasized that the Houthis are not neutral and declared full ideological and operational alignment with what he described as the “Islamic nation.”
He characterized this stance as part of a broader campaign against Israel and the United States, framing it as a religious obligation tied to jihad and resistance to what he called a “Zionist project.”
He highlighted Iran’s role as the only state that officially supported the Houthis during the war in Yemen, describing current cooperation as reciprocal loyalty.
Al-Houthi concluded by signaling continued escalation potential, stating that the Houthis are prepared to take further military action if developments require it and will act proactively as in previous rounds.
IRAN SETS CONDITIONS IN INDIRECT TALKS WITH U.S.: Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar says indirect U.S.-Iran talks are taking place through messages relayed by Pakistan, and that Washington has shared 15 points now under Iranian deliberation.
Iran says it has sent a formal response to U.S. proposals and is awaiting Washington’s reply. Tehran’s conditions include an end to attacks and assassinations, guarantees that the war will not resume, full compensation for damages, and a region-wide halt to fighting involving allied groups.
Iran also insists that control over the Strait of Hormuz is a “natural and legal right.”
