⚓ STRAIT OF HORMUZ CRISIS WIDENS: Washington’s allies are considering diplomatic, economic, and military options if the closure of the Strait of Hormuz continues. The UK is hosting a remote meeting today focused on the situation, though military discussions remain at an early stage and are not expected to be the main focus.

The UAE has asked the UN to approve urgent action, including possible military force, to reopen the strait. Mehr Agency reported that around 400 cargo and other ships are stopped behind the Strait of Hormuz or near Iranian islands awaiting Iranian authorization.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi: “Iran will soon set transit fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz”.

Putin foreign policy assistant Yuri Ushakov: “The Strait of Hormuz is open for Russia.”

 NATO AND EUROPEAN TENSIONS: President Trump threatened to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine if Europe does not join a coalition to open the Strait of Hormuz. The Financial Times reported that the NATO Secretary-General informed Paris, Berlin, and London that Trump is angry over Europe’s refusal to assist.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a White House official said the NATO Secretary-General will travel to Washington next week to meet with Trump. The U.S. ambassador to NATO said Trump is reconsidering all aspects of U.S. relations with the alliance and called on NATO to deploy frigates in the Strait of Hormuz.

French President Macron: “Any military operation to liberate the Strait of Hormuz would be unrealistic”.

Catherine Vautrin, French Minister of the Armed Forces Affairs: “NATO is an alliance for European and Atlantic security, not for conducting operations in the Strait of Hormuz against international law”.

♟️ U.S. AND ISRAEL PREPARE FURTHER ACTION: The U.S. and Israel have coordinated major operations set to take place in the coming days, according to sources cited by Kan News. At the same time, an Israeli official told the Broadcasting Authority that concerns are growing Trump may be satisfied with the achievements of the operation and announce its end.

The Pentagon is sending 18 more A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft to the Middle East, doubling its fleet there. The U.S. has also lost 16 MQ-9 Reaper drones since the start of the Iran war, with CBS News noting that a single aircraft can cost upward of $30 million depending on the variant.

Amazon’s cloud computing infrastructure in Bahrain was damaged in an Iranian drone attack. The IRGC said it targeted Amazon in Bahrain in response to assassinations carried out by the enemy against Iranian officials and civilians yesterday.

Austria has refused all American requests to fly over its territory. The Austrian Defense Ministry told Al Jazeera it denied passage to U.S. military aircraft in line with Austria’s neutrality and will block any aircraft linked to the conflict.
