❗️ CONFLICTING CLAIMS OVER A DOWNED U.S. FIGHTER JET IN IRAN: The Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed it targeted an advanced enemy fighter jet that fell into waters between Hengam and Qeshm islands. U.S. Central Command rejected the report and said the claim of a fighter being shot down over Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz is false.
Tasnim, citing sources, reported that “U.S. helicopters are conducting search operations for an American pilot whose aircraft was shot down by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in Iran.” Iranian media also reported that the U.S. launched a rescue operation to recover the pilots of a downed F-15E fighter jet, and Tasnim claimed a pilot who ejected may have been captured by Iranian forces. CENTCOM and American media had not initially made a claim.
Axios, citing sources, later reported that Iran shot down a U.S. fighter jet and that a search and rescue operation is underway to locate the two crew members. The New York Times, citing officials, reported that the U.S. military launched a search and rescue operation to reach survivors before Iran could.
Iranian state broadcaster IRIB said anyone who captures the U.S. pilot alive will receive a “valuable reward.” Iranian reports also said armed tribesmen and villagers in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province are searching mountainous and rural areas for possible U.S. forces after reports of a rescue attempt.
Additional reports said Iranians are firing small arms at U.S. aircraft involved in the search for the crew of a downed U.S. F-15 over Iran. Three U.S. helicopters were also reported in Iran’s Khuzestan province near the Iraqi border, with fuel aircraft refueling them mid-air, though the reason for their presence remains unclear.
❗️ U.S. MILITARY POSTURE: Fox News, citing military sources, reported: “The U.S. is deploying B-52 bombers over Iran.”
❗️ UAE INTERCEPTS IRANIAN MISSILES AND DRONES: The UAE Ministry of Defense said it intercepted 18 ballistic missiles, 4 cruise missiles, and 47 drones launched from Iran. Abu Dhabi Media Office said 12 people were injured by falling debris following the interceptions in the Ajban area.
❗️ OIL PRICES JUMP AS HORMUZ TENSIONS RISE: NBC reported: “U.S. crude oil prices have reached $112, their highest level in four years.”
President Trump said: “With a little more time, we can easily OPEN THE HORMUZ STRAIT, TAKE THE OIL, & MAKE A FORTUNE. IT WOULD BE A ‘GUSHER’ FOR THE WORLD???”
