ISRAEL TARGETS IRANIAN TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE: The Israeli Air Force struck around 10 key rail sections and bridges across Iran in an effort to disrupt Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps weapons transfers. Ahead of the strikes, the IDF warned Iranians to stay away from trains until this evening.
Rail lines in Tabriz, Mianeh, Zanjan, Kashan, and Mashhad were hit, and operations in northeastern Iran were suspended. The B1 Bridge in Karaj, west of Tehran, was struck again and reportedly destroyed.
Israeli officials have also warned that broader Iranian national infrastructure could be targeted to inflict economic damage on the regime.
U.S. STRIKES ON KHARG ISLAND: The Wall Street Journal, citing a military source, reports that the U.S. military struck more than 50 targets on Kharg Island.
TRUMP STATEMENT AND DIPLOMATIC BREAKDOWN: President Trump said: “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. Iranian TV reports that all diplomatic channels and indirect talks between the United States and Iran have been frozen following Trump’s recent threats.
‼️ CEASEFIRE REJECTION AND MEDIATION EFFORTS: Reuters, citing an Iranian source, reports that Tehran rejects any temporary ceasefire with the United States. Reuters, citing two Pakistani sources, also reports that efforts to facilitate talks between Washington and Tehran are ongoing.
A Pakistani official told Reuters: “Pakistan will stand with Saudi Arabia under defense pact if conflict escalates”.
☣️ PRECAUTIONARY DISTRIBUTION IN BUSHEHR: Iranian media reports that 180,000 iodine pills have been distributed to residents of Bushehr as a precaution due to the area’s proximity to a nuclear facility.
❌ SHOOTING NEAR ISRAELI CONSULATE IN ISTANBUL: Gunfire was reported near the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul. Three individuals were neutralized by Turkish police, and two police officers were injured.
Sources told Reuters: “There are currently no Israeli diplomats in Turkey”. The Israeli Foreign Ministry said the consulate was not staffed at the time of the incident.
The Turkish Justice Ministry appointed three prosecutors to investigate the shooting incident near the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul. An immediate investigation was launched into the circumstances of the incident.
Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi said: “The identities of the terrorists have been identified. It has been determined that the individuals, who arrived in Istanbul by a rental vehicle from Izmit, include one with ties to an organization that exploits religion; and it has also been established that one of the two terrorists, who are brothers, has a drug record”.
