⁉️ IRANIAN MESSAGING REMAINS CONFLICTED: Iranian public messaging on the status of the Strait has been inconsistent. While Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had indicated the Strait was open to commercial vessels, other Iranian officials and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) later announced new restrictions and closure measures, with indications of enforcement activity at sea.
An Israeli source told Army Radio that the closure of Hormuz reflects confusion within the Iranian leadership, with one camp signaling openness while the IRGC moved to shut the route. Iranian state media also criticized Araqchi’s earlier statement, with some outlets saying it gave President Trump an opening to claim victory.
If this pattern continues, the most likely outcome is not a coup or immediate regime change, but a further shift toward IRGC dominance in operational decision-making, particularly on security and maritime issues, while civilian leadership continues to function with reduced influence and inconsistent public messaging.
IRANIAN MILITARY CAPABILITY: The The New York Times reported that Iran still retains substantial military capability despite heavy strikes. U.S. intelligence and military officials assess that Iran maintains about 40% of its pre-war arsenal of long-range attack drones and roughly 60% of its ballistic and cruise missile launchers.
Over 100 systems previously buried in caves and bunkers have reportedly been recovered since the start of the two-week ceasefire on April 8. Additional American estimates indicate Iran could reclaim up to 70% of its pre-war missile stockpile, much of it buried under rubble following strikes on bunkers and depots.
️ ISRAEL INTERNAL SECURITY DEVELOPMENT: Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) arrested two regular soldiers in the Israeli Air Force on suspicion of long-term espionage for Iran, according to i24 News.
ADDITIONAL DEVELOPMENTS: The IRGC Intelligence Organization said it arrested cells allegedly affiliated with the U.S., the UK, and Israel in East Azerbaijan, Kerman, and Mazandaran. The individuals were accused of espionage, smuggling goods, and planning attacks.
DRUG SMUGGLING ATTEMPT THWARTED ALONG THE EASTERN BORDER: IDF forces from the Jordan Valley and Valleys Brigade foiled a drug smuggling attempt worth millions of shekels along the eastern border.
Earlier in the day, surveillance soldiers identified the smuggling attempt and directed troops from the Lions of the Jordan Battalion to the scene. The forces seized around 75 kilograms of drugs.
The confiscated drugs were transferred for further handling.
