‼️ U.S. cancels planned talks in Pakistan: President Trump announced he canceled the planned visit of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Islamabad for talks with Iran. He said the envoys informed him they would not make the 18-hour trip “to talk about nothing,” adding that Iran can contact the United States at any time.
Iranian diplomatic movements continue across the region: The Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had already departed Pakistan before Trump’s statement. Iranian state media reported that Araqchi arrived in Muscat for meetings with senior Omani officials regarding negotiations with the United States.
Iranian media also reported that Araqchi is expected to return to Islamabad before traveling to Moscow for consultations and to carry a written response to the American proposal for a peace agreement.
U.S. political support for a harder stance: Senator Lindsey Graham called Trump’s decision “very wise,” citing continued Iranian attacks on international shipping and additional provocation despite U.S. diplomatic efforts.
Graham said establishing firm control over the Strait of Hormuz should be a top priority for the United States and the world, and that U.S. military engagement may be required in the short term to ensure freedom of navigation.
‼️ Iran signals military readiness and warns the U.S.: Iranian media reported that the Revolutionary Guard has declared full readiness of the armed forces, including planning and preparations for prisoner-of-war camps in anticipation of any potential ground attack.
The Iranian government spokesperson said all political factions are united in defending Iran and warned the enemy not to miscalculate. Iran’s General Staff, Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said: “If the US military continues the siege and piracy, it will face a strong response from our armed forces.”
U.S. military presence and economic pressure continue: U.S. Central Command said F-35 aircraft are continuing patrols over the Arabian Sea from the aircraft carrier Tripoli.
