ISRAEL ECONOMY OUTPERFORMS G7 DURING WAR: A CNBC report highlights that despite ongoing conflict since October 2023 and the war with Iran beginning in February 2026, Israel’s economy continues to perform strongly compared to other developed economies.
The International Monetary Fund projects Israel’s GDP growth at 3.5% in 2026, above the United States at 2.3% and the European Union at 1.3%, placing Israel ahead of all G7 economies. Growth is expected to reach 4.4% in 2027.
The Bank of Israel forecasts 3.8% growth this year, with potential expansion up to 5.5% if conflicts subside. Unemployment rose slightly to 3.2% as of March 2026 but remains significantly lower than in the U.S. and Europe.
Inflation stands at 1.9%, within the central bank’s target range, despite rising oil prices. Israel’s debt-to-GDP ratio is 69.8%, well below the G7 average of 123.7%.
Israeli capital markets remain strong, with the Tel Aviv 35 Index up about 20% in 2026 after a 51.6% rise in 2025, and the Tel Aviv 125 Index gaining over 17%.
The shekel has strengthened by around 7% against the U.S. dollar this year, supported by continued foreign investment in technology, finance, and defense sectors.
The report attributes Israel’s resilience to a strong high-tech sector, sustained foreign capital inflows, exports in technology, natural gas, and defense, and steady population growth. Markets are also reflecting expectations of future geopolitical stabilization, including potential ceasefires.

⚖️ DEFENSE MINISTRY BEGINS PAYMENTS UNDER EXPANDED BEREAVED FAMILIES LAW: Israel has begun implementing Amendment 47 to the law governing families of fallen soldiers, expanding long-term financial support for orphans, widows, and bereaved families.
Thousands are receiving payments starting today, including one-time grants and permanent increases to monthly stipends, with amounts reaching thousands of shekels depending on eligibility.
Approximately 800 orphans aged 21 to 30 will receive a fixed monthly payment of ₪3,651.92. Around 1,000 orphans aged 30 to 40 will receive ₪2,000 per month. An additional 7,400 orphans aged 40 and above will receive a ₪50,000 one-time grant, paid in one or two installments.
Around 374 widows will receive one-time compensation for loss of income. Approximately 250 widows with young children are receiving monthly childcare support scaled by age: ₪6,000 from birth to 3 months, ₪3,000 from 3 months to 3 years, and ₪1,500 from ages 3 to 6.
The amendment extends financial support beyond previous age limits, recognizing that the impact of loss continues throughout life.
Defense Minister Katz described the reform as a “historic correction,” emphasizing the state’s responsibility to provide ongoing economic, personal, and community support to bereaved families.
