PROJECT FREEDOM AND MARITIME ESCORTS: US Secretary Rubio said Project Freedom will rescue almost 23,000 civilians from 87 countries who are trapped in the Persian Gulf by the Iranian regime.
He said President Trump directed the U.S. military to guide stranded ships to safety, calling it the first step toward reopening the Strait and ending what he described as Iran’s “act of economic arson.”
Rubio said the operation is defensive and that the U.S. is not firing unless fired upon first. “If we’re fired on, we will respond with lethal efficiency.”

⚠️ IRAN’S ACTIONS IN THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ: Rubio said Iran cannot be allowed to dictate who uses the Strait of Hormuz.
He accused Iran of placing mines in an international waterway, blowing up ships, and demanding payment from other countries while Iranian vessels pass freely.
Rubio said Iran is trying to make this “the new normal,” calling the mining of the waterway a criminal act and an act of war.
❗️ U.S. MILITARY POSTURE AND DETERRENCE: Rubio said the U.S. will help allies stand up to rogue regimes and will use military power in service of its national interests.
He said President Trump believes the U.S. “holds all the cards,” and warned that if Iran escalates, “they will not get the last say.”

️ PROTECTED TRANSIT ZONE: Rubio said the U.S. goal is to establish a protected transit zone in the Strait of Hormuz.

GLOBAL SHIPPING IMPLICATIONS: Rubio warned that allowing Iran to control an international shipping lane would set a dangerous precedent.
He said U.S. exports depend on international shipping lanes and that Washington will not allow Iran to control or “completely own” them.
ECONOMIC PRESSURE AND SANCTIONS: Rubio said Iran cannot be allowed to close the Strait to others while benefiting from what he called piracy.
He said the blockade and sanctions are weakening Iran, and that U.S. leverage increases each day the conflict continues.
Rubio said Operation Economic Fury is continuing maximum pressure on the Iranian regime, citing 70% inflation, currency collapse, and stepped-up U.S. sanctions enforcement.
☢️ NUCLEAR CONCERNS AND STRATEGIC WARNING: Rubio said Iran is not acting like it wants a civilian nuclear program.
He said Iran is behaving as though it wants a military nuclear program, and warned that a nuclear-armed Iran could hold the world hostage the way it is currently doing with the Strait.
Rubio said President Trump is the only recent U.S. president willing to address the threat of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon.
️ INTERNATIONAL RESPONSE AND UN ACTION: Rubio said the U.S. is asking the UN to condemn Iran for placing mines in the Strait and firing on commercial vessels.
He said the UN should call on Iran to stop blowing up ships, remove the mines, and allow humanitarian relief.
