CENTCOM confirmed that U.S. forces carried out “self-defense strikes” against Iran following the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter. U.S. Central Command said American fighter jets struck Iranian air defense sites, ground control stations, and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz using precision munitions.
Iranian media reported explosions in Sirik, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, and Ahvaz. Iranian air defenses were reportedly activated in Qeshm, Jask, and Bandar Abbas, while reports also indicated GPS disruptions in several areas of Tehran.
❗️Axios cited a senior U.S. official saying the strikes targeted Iranian radar systems, air defenses, and navy bases around the Strait of Hormuz. A senior U.S. official later told Israeli Channel 12 that a third wave of strikes was underway.
Additional explosions were later reported in Sirik, Qeshm, Bandar Abbas, and Ahvaz. Reports described renewed U.S. strikes on Qeshm Island and multiple waves of activity along Iran’s southern coastline.
CENTCOM later announced that the strikes had concluded, calling the operation “a proportional response to recent attacks on U.S. forces and international commercial ships transiting regional waters.” CENTCOM added that U.S. forces remain vigilant and postured to defend against further Iranian aggression.
Unconfirmed reports from Iranian channels claimed cruise missiles were launched from Bandar Abbas toward the Persian Gulf. Additional reports indicated Iranian ballistic missile launches toward Gulf states, with alerts reported in Bahrain and Kuwait.

❗️Interceptions were reported over Manama, Bahrain, and at least one explosion was reported in Bahrain. Fars News Agency claimed the IRGC targeted the U.S. Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, and Iranian media said the launches were visible from northern Israel.
❗️The IRGC claimed it struck four key targets at the Jordanian base, including F-35 hangars and a command center. It also asserted that 21 targets at U.S. air and naval bases across the region had been hit.
️ A U.S. official told The New York Times that the IRGC claims of 21 successful attacks were “completely untrue.” The official added that Iran launched multiple missiles and drones at U.S. bases across the Middle East and that nearly all were intercepted.
️ Iraqi media reported U.S. and Israeli fighter jets patrolling Iraqi airspace. Iranian media also reported the downing of a U.S. MQ-9 drone over Jam in southern Iran, which the IRGC later confirmed.
⚠️ Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi warned: “Despite its defeats on the battlefield, the U.S. opted to test our determination. Our Powerful Armed Forces will leave no attack or threat unanswered. Leave our region if you want to be safe. History of the Persian Gulf has many chapters on dire fates of intruding outsiders.”
⚠️ Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stated that U.S. bases in the region were targeted “in response to the aggression of the terrorist US army,” and warned that any renewed American strikes would trigger “more severe and widespread attacks.”
⚠️ The IRGC also claimed its naval forces attacked the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain with drones, stating that “clashes continue” and warning that “heavier responses are on the way” if hostilities continue.
A senior U.S. official told Fox News: “The situation remains active, and the US military is ready to respond if Iran decides to retaliate.”
