️ New photo shows the scale of the current U.S. military presence across the Middle East. According to U.S. Navy officials, nearly 20,000 American sailors and Marines are deployed at sea aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS George H.W. Bush carrier strike groups, alongside 18 guided-missile destroyers, the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and more than a dozen air squadrons.
The forces are spread across the Eastern Mediterranean, Red Sea, North Arabian Sea, and Arabian Sea. U.S. forces are helping defend Israel, counter Houthi threats, conduct operations involving Iran, and protect maritime security around the Strait of Hormuz. The naval deployment is part of roughly 50,000 U.S. troops currently stationed across the Middle East.

President Trump said the U.S. military launched direct “self-defense” airstrikes against Iranian territory following the downing of an American Apache helicopter.
According to President Trump, the strikes targeted more than 20 Iranian military positions, including radar and air defense sites.
President Trump exclusively told Trey Yingst that the United States is getting close to ordering additional strikes against Iranian power plants and bridges in response to Iran “tapping the United States along” during drawn-out negotiations.
President Trump also revealed new details about the Apache incident, saying an Iranian drone became lodged between the helicopter’s two pilots as they maneuvered to avoid an explosion.
President Trump: “Iran’s Military is a complete and total mess. Much of it, like their Navy and Air Force, doesn’t even exist anymore – They have been completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!! They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price!!!”
❗️A U.S. official said Iran responded by launching at least four ballistic missiles and several UAVs toward U.S. bases in Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Major gaps reportedly remain in U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations, according to The New York Times. The disputes reportedly include the duration of uranium enrichment restrictions, dismantlement of facilities at Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, the future of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, and Washington’s demand for surprise inspections.
Tehran reportedly favors a 10-year enrichment limit, while the Trump administration is seeking 15 years. Iran is reportedly willing to dismantle two of its three primary nuclear sites, while Washington is demanding all three be dismantled.
The United States is also reportedly seeking full dilution of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, potentially on Iranian territory with American participation. Tehran is reportedly resisting expanded surprise inspections because some facilities are tied to Revolutionary Guard-linked sites.
Reuters, citing an official familiar with the discussions, reported that Qatari negotiators traveled to Tehran this morning following consultations with Washington in an effort to finalize an agreement between the United States and Iran.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said continuation of negotiations with the United States aimed at ending the war will be reviewed following last night’s developments.
An Iranian lawmaker, Ali Khezrian, said President Trump was seeking an “honorable” exit from the war.
“For that reason, he will either carry out a bigger attack or try to bring us to a point of weakness so he can extract concessions from us at the negotiating table,” Khezrian said.
