⚠️ BEN GVIR, SMOTRICH CALL FOR DIPLOMATIC ACTION AGAINST UK: National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich are calling for Israeli action against Britain as the UK urges additional countries to join it in imposing sanctions over Israeli settlement activity in Judea and Samaria.
Smotrich called for the British ambassador to be expelled “tonight,” accusing the British government of antisemitism and of attacking Israel and Jews. In a post translated from Hebrew by X/Grok, he wrote, “We will not be a doormat,” and concluded, “The British Mandate in the Land of Israel is over.”
Ben Gvir separately called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to recognize Argentine sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands, known in Britain as the Falkland Islands, and impose sanctions on Britain for as long as what he described as its “occupation” continues. In a post translated by X/Grok, Ben Gvir accused Britain of taking Argentine territory and profiting from oil drilling there, while tagging Netanyahu and Argentine President Javier Milei. The U.S. is also threatening a response.
️ DISPUTED HAARETZ REPORT ALLEGES UAE PRESIDENT WARNED NETANYAHU BEFORE OCTOBER 7; PMO DENIES CALL OCCURRED: Haaretz journalists Shlomi Eldar and Ruth Yuval report that UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed personally warned Netanyahu roughly 10 days before October 7, 2023, that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was preparing a major operation that could ignite the region.
According to the investigation, the alleged conversation lasted approximately 45 minutes, with Netanyahu reportedly responding that Hamas was primarily focused on Judea and Samaria and that Israel was prepared for any scenario.
Netanyahu’s office categorically denies the central allegation, calling it an “absolute lie” and stating that Netanyahu did not speak with bin Zayed during the period in question and received no such warning. The UAE has not publicly confirmed the alleged call.
Former Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and former IDF chief Herzi Halevi have said they were not informed of an Emirati warning. That is consistent with Haaretz’s claim that the alleged warning was not passed to the security establishment, but does not independently establish that the conversation occurred.
The report comes amid broader, separately reported indications that Israeli officials received warnings of possible Hamas escalation before October 7. These include reports that Sinwar conveyed references to an approaching “earthquake,” that Bar warned Netanyahu on October 1 that Hamas was preparing something “extreme,” and a longstanding, separately disputed allegation that Egypt also warned Netanyahu shortly before the attack. These reports provide context but do not independently verify the specific Haaretz claim regarding bin Zayed.
Naftali Bennett says he knows the report is true but has not publicly disclosed the basis for that assertion. Bennett, Gadi Eisenkot, Avigdor Lieberman and Yair Golan also issued a joint statement demanding an immediate investigation, accusing Netanyahu of ignoring serious warnings and linking the report to their demand for a state commission of inquiry into October 7. Their accusations remain political reactions to the disputed report, not independent confirmation of its central claim.
At present, the key allegation remains contested: Haaretz presents a detailed, multi-source investigation alleging a direct Emirati warning, while Netanyahu’s office denies that either the conversation or warning occurred. No public UAE confirmation or documentary evidence establishing the alleged call has yet emerged.
