 UK, FRANCE AND OTHER STATES BACK MEASURES AGAINST SETTLEMENT TRADE: British Jewish Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, announcing sanctions targeting settlements in Judea and Samaria, said: “We agree that there is ‘ethnic cleansing’ there.” He announced a ban on purchasing goods from “illegal settlements” and threatened action against companies providing services for settlement expansion.

France joined Britain in imposing sanctions. Iceland, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Finland, France, Canada and Sweden affirmed their intention to impose national sanctions and/or support European restrictions on trade in goods with settlements considered illegal under international law, or said they are actively considering these and additional measures under their respective national procedures.

 THAILAND SUMMONS ISRAELI AMBASSADOR OVER TOURIST CONDUCT: Thailand’s Foreign Ministry summoned Israeli Ambassador Alona Fisher-Kamm over concerns regarding the conduct of some Israeli nationals. Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow said he held a “frank discussion” with the ambassador about allegations that Israelis were using nominees to circumvent foreign ownership rules and incidents involving tourists that have fueled tensions in Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and Phuket.

“Tourism is important to us, but it isn’t just about income – it is also about the dignity of Thailand,” Sihasak said.

Israeli tourism to Thailand rose 46% last year to approximately 410,000 visitors. Thailand is set to reduce visa-free stays from 60 days to 30 days beginning September 15. An Israeli tourist has already been deported from Koh Samui, while a nationalist rally is planned outside the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok on Thursday.

 ELECTION LISTS TAKE SHAPE TWO MONTHS BEFORE THE VOTE: Benny Gantz is not dropping out of the race and placed Pnina Tamano-Shata in the No. 2 position on his list, alongside Alon Schuster and former MK Mufid Mari.

The Likud Secretariat approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s reserved slots. Speaking at the meeting about Iran, Netanyahu said: “We are getting closer to defeating the head of the octopus.”
