IDF CHIEF VISITS WOUNDED TROOPS AHEAD OF ROSH HASHANAH: IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer yesterday, meeting commanders and troops from infantry and armored brigades wounded during operational activities in Gaza and Lebanon.
Zamir toured several departments and spoke with the wounded troops and their families about the circumstances of their injuries, their recovery and rehabilitation, and the journey since they were wounded. He expressed appreciation for their determination and contribution to Israel’s security and thanked the medical teams, medical liaison personnel and casualty affairs personnel for their work.
“I came to see you ahead of the new year, and I am moved by what I have seen here. There are troops here who stood on the front lines, led, and risked their lives in combat against the enemy—this is bravery in battle. Now, you are facing an operation that requires further bravery as you recover from your injuries. The entire IDF and I deeply appreciate your sacrifice and contribution. It is our duty to stand by you and accompany you throughout your rehabilitation journey. We are with you every step of the way. I salute you. May this be a better year: a year of security and hope, a year of unity and victory. A year in which you continue to stand strong and serve as a source of pride for the entire nation.”
❌ THREE PA POLICE OFFICERS DETAINED OVER AREA C ROADBLOCK AND ASSAULT: The IDF said three Palestinian Authority police officers were apprehended this week over their involvement in an unauthorized roadblock in Area C near Beitunia and the detention and alleged assault of an Israeli civilian on August 23.
According to the military account, the Israeli civilian, described in the reporting as an armed settler and off-duty reservist, was stopped on the road near Beitunia and allegedly beaten. The PA officers took him toward Ramallah in their police vehicle before shortly afterward handing him over to Israeli forces.
The roadblock had been established in Area C, which is under full Israeli civil and security control. The IDF said the officers had “exceeded their authority to operate in these areas.” Israeli security authorities described the incident as “a serious overreach by the [PA] security forces, endangering the life of the Israeli civilian and using aggressive and severe force against him.”
The Israeli security establishment separately characterized the incident as a serious breach of the mechanisms in place that endangered the civilian’s life and involved severe and excessive force against him.
The three officers are being questioned by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet). “The IDF maintains security coordination in accordance with the directive of the political echelon. At the same time, the IDF will not tolerate any deviation from procedures,” the military said.
