⚠️ Reported Emirati warning and Netanyahu’s denial: The New York Times reported that it had confirmed an earlier Haaretz report that Emirati President Mohammed bin Zayed warned Prime Minister Netanyahu before October 7 that Hamas was preparing a major attack.
According to five former senior Israeli officials cited in the report, the warning never reached Israel’s security leadership.
Minutes from an October 1, 2023, security meeting show that Netanyahu did not mention the warning and instead advocated maintaining calm in Gaza, according to the Times.
Netanyahu denied receiving such a warning, saying any intelligence from the UAE would have been transmitted through official channels.
⚠️ Reported Egyptian warnings and the PMO’s response: The Atlantic reported that then-Egyptian General Intelligence Directorate chief Abbas Kamel made an urgent visit to Israel on September 26, 2023, warning Israeli officials that Hamas appeared to be preparing a major attack.
He arrived aboard a chartered aircraft linked to Egyptian intelligence and remained in Israel for just over an hour.
Kamel urged Israeli officials to offer Hamas economic concessions to prevent an escalation, warning that Gaza could ‘blow up in your faces’ if Israel failed to act.
Although he provided no specific date or operational details, officials cited by The Atlantic said the urgency should have raised concerns within Israel’s leadership.
Egypt reportedly continued sending warnings, with the latest issued on October 5, two days before the attack.
The Prime Minister’s Office rejected the allegation as false, saying it had been denied previously and was being repeated to manipulate the Israeli public.
It said Egypt officially denied on October 11, 2023, that it had warned Israel of the October 7 attack.
The office also said Netanyahu neither met nor spoke with Kamel in the preceding months and that no Israeli intelligence official conveyed such a warning to the prime minister.
️ Likud rejects reports and alleges political motives: Responding to reports published in the United States over the weekend, Likud said:

Despite the denials by the United Arab Emirates, and despite the Prime Minister’s Office proving that no such conversation ever took place, they continue to spread the lie.
This time, they are relying on the anti-Zionist New York Times, which published blood libels claiming that Israel trains dogs to rape Palestinians, and ran a front-page photo of a ‘starving child in Gaza’ who later turned out to be suffering from a genetic disease, and which disseminates Hamas’s claims every day that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
The public is smart and stopped buying these lies a long time ago.”
