✈️ Attack plan and foreign aviation review: An Omani pilot said during interrogation that he had planned to crash the plane into Ben Gurion Airport. He attacked the other pilot only while over Jordan, near Israel. The reported plan was to make a normal landing approach and crash into the terminal in the final seconds, when interception would no longer be possible.
The plot was reportedly thwarted only because the injured Indian pilot decided to open the door at all costs. The account of the incident questioned how many people were at the airport at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and how many might have died if the plane had struck the terminal.
Initial reports indicate that the Israeli investigation so far points to the terrorist pilot acting alone. He is also suspected of shutting down the engines during the incident.
The Prime Minister’s Office said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed National Security Council head Shmuel Ben Ezra to appoint an investigator for a thorough review of all security aspects concerning foreign civilian aviation to Israel. The same account criticized the proposed review as internal and without authority.
