Strike targets Ali Ahmed Al-Amoudi: The IDF confirmed that it and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) carried out an overnight strike targeting Ali Ahmed Al-Amoudi, deputy chairman of Hamas’s political bureau in Gaza. A security source also identified him as the target. The military said the results remain under review.
Palestinian and Gazan media reported that the strike hit a building in western Gaza City, killing five people: a young man, a mother and her daughter, and two other adult women. Al-Amoudi was not named among the reported dead.
The IDF said Al-Amoudi was in an apartment used by Hamas for terrorist activity inside a residential building. It said it took steps to minimize civilian harm as much as possible. The military described this as another example of Hamas hiding among civilians and cynically using them as cover and human shields to advance terrorist activities.
According to the military, Al-Amoudi served as Yahya Sinwar’s right-hand man and personal assistant and was involved in decision-making surrounding the October 7 massacre. It said he participated in a 1993 terrorist attack in Judea and Samaria in which four Israelis were murdered, and in the killing of Shin Bet officer Noam-Menachem Cohen during operational activity in Ramallah in 1994.
The IDF described Al-Amoudi as Hamas’s most senior figure in Gaza, directly involved in terrorist activity and rebuilding the organization for war. He is also believed to be Hamas’s de facto most senior political official in the Strip and has been reported as a frontrunner to succeed Khalil al-Hayya as head of its political bureau in Gaza. The military said he was targeted to “remove the threat.”
IDF reports eliminating two Islamic Jihad commanders: The IDF said an aerial strike in the Gaza City area yesterday eliminated Ahmed Mahmoud Harb Ramlawi, a commander in the rocket array of the Shuja’iyya Battalion in Islamic Jihad’s military wing.
A separate aerial strike in the same area eliminated Munir Ibrahim Masr, head of an anti-tank missile cell in the terrorist organization’s military wing.
According to the IDF, both terrorists had worked recently and throughout the war to restore Islamic Jihad’s capabilities, in systematic violation of the ceasefire agreement.
