️ First fully U.S.-made Tamir interceptor delivered: Israel’s Defense Ministry received the interceptor at a ceremony at the Raytheon-Rafael Protection Systems (R2S) facility in East Camden, Arkansas. Manufactured and assembled entirely in the United States, it was delivered to the ministry’s Homa Directorate, marking a milestone in U.S.-Israeli missile defense cooperation.
The joint venture between Israel’s Rafael and America’s Raytheon is the first production site outside Israel to manufacture Tamir interceptors. It will also produce SkyHunter, the American version of Tamir, for the U.S. Marine Corps’ MRIC air defense system. The additional capacity is intended to strengthen both countries’ air defenses and shared defense industrial base. Rafael and Raytheon have cooperated on U.S. interceptor manufacturing for more than a decade.
According to the Defense Ministry, Iron Dome has recorded more than 10,000 successful operational interceptions during 15 years of service. Developed under the leadership of the Homa Directorate within the Directorate of Defense Research & Development (DDR&D), with Rafael as principal developer, it forms part of Israel’s multilayered defense array alongside David’s Sling and Arrow. Homa works with the U.S. Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and both countries’ defense industries to develop and produce these systems.
Homa Directorate head Moshe Patel said the production line significantly expands joint manufacturing capabilities and supports Israel’s strategy to accelerate interceptor production across its air defense systems. He said American assistance, partly reinvested in U.S. industry, strengthens the shared production base, the partnership with the MDA, and the ability to protect civilian lives.
Rafael Senior Vice President and Head of the Air Defense Division Shlomo Toaf recalled the skepticism surrounding Iron Dome’s development and its subsequent 15 years of operational service. He described Tamir as the system’s heart and highlighted its first manufacture outside Israel.
“For Rafael, this represents growth in the United States, Israeli engineering and American manufacturing, with each empowering and strengthening the other,” Toaf said.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, U.S. Senator Tom Cotton, and senior Israeli and American military, government, and defense industry representatives attended the ceremony.
IDF reports separate terrorist eliminations in Gaza: The IDF said troops operating in southern Gaza identified a terrorist who crossed the Yellow Line and attempted to sabotage operational infrastructure the day before its statement. Describing him as an immediate threat, the IDF said it struck and eliminated him immediately after identification.
In a separate operation described as occurring earlier that week, the IDF said it struck in Khan Younis and eliminated Ibrahim Alam, a commander in Hamas’ military wing. According to the IDF, Alam infiltrated Israel during the October 7th Massacre, participated in the murder of numerous Israeli civilians, and took part in the abduction of Sergeant Shaked Dahan’s body to Hamas captivity.
The IDF also reported eliminating Mu’tasem Muhammad Suleiman Salah, a terrorist in Hamas’ military wing, in an additional strike earlier Tuesday.
According to the IDF, Alam and Salah had recently advanced attacks against Israeli troops and civilians and worked to restore Hamas’ capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire. It said the terrorists were eliminated in aerial strikes to remove the threats they posed.
