✈️ UAE confirms Flydubai crash plot: The United Arab Emirates confirmed an earlier report that the pilot who hijacked a Flydubai flight planned to crash the plane at Ben Gurion Airport.
Reported U.S. push for a unilateral Israeli strike: Maariv reported that, during talks over the past two weeks, the U.S. urged Israel to strike Iran unilaterally rather than pursue an American or joint operation. The proposed strike was driven by intelligence indicating that Iran is rapidly rebuilding its drone and ballistic missile production capabilities despite months of U.S. and Israeli attacks.
According to the report, Washington wanted Israel to bear the political risks ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, believing an attack could hurt President Trump politically while benefiting Prime Minister Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s elections. IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir warned U.S. officials that such an attack would likely force Israel to postpone its elections. Washington has dropped the demand for now.
Separately, a senior Israeli security official told Channel 12 that Israel will not launch a preemptive strike against Iran before the October 27 legislative election.
Houthi attack on Riyadh airport: The Wall Street Journal reported that the Houthis struck King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday, directly hitting Terminal 3, causing injuries and forcing the airport’s evacuation. Footage from the airport showed blood on the floor.
The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority said the airport was targeted on October 10, leaving several people injured. Operations have been temporarily suspended while authorities assess the damage.
The Financial Times, citing Saudi sources, reported that at least 50 people were hospitalized after a Houthi missile struck the airport’s domestic terminal. The New York Times reported a higher toll of at least 12 people killed and 50 injured.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Saudi officials are increasingly concerned that continued attacks could undermine the kingdom’s economy, disrupt tourism and business travel, and deplete its limited stockpiles of missile interceptors.
️ President Trump considers joining strikes against the Houthis: A reporter asked: “Have you decided whether to join Saudi strikes against the Houthis?” President Trump replied: “We may. We’re going to look at it. We just found out about the recent attack. We’ll make a decision. We move very quickly”.
A reporter then asked: “You said you wouldn’t attack Iran until after the midterms. Has the latest attack in Saudi Arabia changed that?” President Trump replied: “We are going to take a look”.
❌ Explosives truck seized in Lebanon: Lebanese media reported that security forces seized a truck carrying approximately 800 kg of explosives while traveling from the Baalbek region to Beirut. Two alleged Hezbollah operatives were reportedly driving the truck, which also contained nails and metal balls.
During questioning, the drivers allegedly said a senior Hezbollah official identified as Sayyed Sajjad had instructed them to deliver the cargo to another senior member of the group in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district. Security forces are continuing to investigate and identify other Hezbollah members suspected of involvement.
Search follows aerial detection near Lebanon: After sirens sounded at 19:57 in Arab al-Aramshe, IDF surveillance identified an unknown aerial object on the border with Lebanon. Soldiers are continuing to search the area. No suspicious findings have been located so far, and there are currently no special instructions for the home front.
