⚠️ UK attributes attempted airbase attack to the IRGC: British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the attempted attack on the U.S. airbase at RAF Fairford was “almost certainly” directed by Iran’s IRGC. The UK subsequently summoned Iranian Ambassador Ali Mousavi.
According to IRNA, Mousavi rejected the accusations against Tehran during a meeting with British Minister for the Middle East Stephen Doughty. He called on the UK to refrain from taking positions or making statements unsupported by evidence.
⚠️ Rezaei alleges oil smuggling and threatens broader targets: Mohsen Rezaei, military adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, accused President Trump and CENTCOM of overseeing an oil-smuggling operation off Oman with assistance from the Emirati military. He claimed small boats transfer oil to larger tankers and that Iranian forces have targeted five or six of these vessels each night for months.
Rezaei said: “The US has very valuable assets in the UAE and near the Strait of Hormuz that we have not yet included among our targets. If another confrontation occurs, we will certainly confront the enemy with a much broader and more extensive plan”.
On negotiations, he said: “The U.S. has agreed to some of Iran’s seven conditions, but we consider its response inadequate. Iranian diplomacy has changed and there will be no return to the status quo ante”.
In another statement specifying the conditions’ connection to the Strait of Hormuz, Rezaei said: “The Americans have agreed to some of our seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, but from our perspective, their response is insufficient.”
