❌ Four Islamic Jihad terrorists apprehended in northern Samaria: IDF soldiers, guided by intelligence from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), conducted two arrest operations this week in Qabatiya and Arraba, in the Menashe Brigade area. The IDF said four Islamic Jihad terrorists planning an attack in northern Samaria were apprehended.
In a separate operation this week in the Beit Rima area, soldiers apprehended a wanted individual involved in arms trafficking. The terrorists were transferred for further questioning by the security forces.
️ IDF assesses northern aerial object was likely a balloon: An unidentified object that triggered sirens in Arab al-Aramshe, in the Western Galilee near the Lebanese border, on Saturday night was likely a balloon, the IDF said. Following an “in-depth investigation,” the military assessed that it was “most likely a balloon-like object or a device that floats using hot air.”
“At this stage, it is not possible to determine its origin or purpose with certainty,” the IDF said, but added that the object was “not a drone or UAV.” “It may have been a harmless object that drifted into Israeli territory,” the military said.
According to the IDF, the object was identified by Israeli Air Force surveillance and detection systems, “which tracked it and directed forces on the ground as they handled the incident.” Security was reinforced in nearby communities “until all checks related to the matter were completed.” The object has not yet been located, and Home Front Command guidelines for civilians remain unchanged.
Addressing recent false aerial detections and interceptor launches over southern Lebanon, the IDF said the Air Force continually works to thwart threats while prioritizing the safety of Israeli civilians and troops. “The difference between a drone and a bird is very small, and therefore no risks are taken,” the military said, adding that “once a threat is identified, a rapid process is carried out until the target is intercepted.”
“The IDF continues to conduct searches in the area, both in the air and on the ground, while continuously examining its detection systems to improve identification capabilities and draw lessons from operational incidents of this kind,” the military added.
⚠️ Unexploded ordnance campaign expanded after student’s death: The Home Front Command is expanding public guidance following Monday’s deadly explosion in the Ramim Ridge area. Elazar Yair Wilensky, also spelled Vilansky, a ninth-grade student from Ma’alot, was killed by a Hezbollah cluster bomb.
Guidance on unexploded ordnance will be distributed across all Home Front Command channels “in cooperation with local authorities, with an emphasis on reaching the general public.”
“The expanded awareness efforts are intended to increase public awareness of the risk and reinforce familiarity with the rules of conduct required to protect human life,” the IDF said.
The military said it shares in the family’s grief and is continuing a “comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the incident.”
May his family be comforted among the mourners of Zion.
Security drill at the Jordan Valley crossing: The Defense Ministry’s Crossings Authority will conduct the exercise today, Tuesday, October 13, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Sounds of gunfire and explosions will be heard during the drill.
