️ IDF election readiness and military voting: IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has ordered heightened readiness ahead of Israel’s October 27 elections, including a leave freeze across IDF units beginning Thursday, subject to ongoing situational assessments. He stressed that the military’s mission is to enable democratic elections to take place safely and on schedule.
At this morning’s multi-front assessment, attended by the Operations and Intelligence Directorate heads and the Northern, Central, Southern and Home Front Command commanders, Zamir said the IDF remains at its highest state of alert and will maintain vigilance and readiness across all fronts. He ordered an increased presence of senior commanders in command centers, headquarters and units to ensure operational readiness and combat preparedness.
Central Command, responsible for Judea and Samaria, will be reinforced with the Paratroopers Brigade headquarters and additional forces to strengthen deployments and increase the military’s presence on the ground. The brigade headquarters will serve as a dedicated task force headquarters between the Samaria and Binyamin regional brigades. Additional personnel will be allocated to other fronts according to operational needs, in the air, at sea and on land.
The IDF is set to begin deploying at least 850 polling stations tomorrow at military bases and outposts across the country and beyond Israel’s borders. Military voting will continue through October 27, when the rest of the country votes.
⚠️ U.S. security alerts across 12 countries: The U.S. has issued coordinated security alerts across 12 Middle Eastern countries amid escalating regional tensions and potential threats from Iran-backed groups. Countries covered include Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain.
U.S. diplomatic missions warned of possible sudden flight cancellations, commercial delays and temporary airspace closures. They urged travelers to confirm flight status directly with airlines and prepare for transportation disruptions.
⚠️ Araghchi warns against renewed action against Iran: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said: “Last time you wanted to ‘finish the job’, Iran emerged even stronger. Want to try your luck again? Be our guest. But be careful; we have unfinished jobs too.”
He also accused Netanyahu of drawing America into another war to stay out of jail, regardless of the consequences for Israel or the U.S. president.
Netanyahu addresses Russian ties with Iran: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “Russia has its own interests, and the State of Israel has its interests, and they do not always overlap. Sometimes they even clash.”
He said Israel opposes Russian cooperation with Iran and accused a bot operation targeting Israel of spreading “the most blatant antisemitism imaginable.”
Netanyahu added: “We raise all these issues, and we raise them very clearly. I talk with Putin as needed.”
He also said: “Given the Muslim population within Russia itself, Iran will want to turn those elements into its agents as well. Because they have insane ideas about conquering the world.”
️ Gantz announces he will not contest the election: Gantz said: “I will not run in the upcoming elections. I will continue fighting for unity. This is the only solution that will prevent another disaster and safeguard Israel in the face of all the challenges, both domestic and external.”
About a week earlier, he had said: “I’m in the race until the very end.”
