️ Netanyahu and Katz deny reported clash with Zamir: Channel 12’s Yaron Avraham reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir clashed over Iran, with Zamir warning that the political leadership risked a miscalculation ahead of Israel’s elections that could trigger an immediate, dramatic escalation. According to the report, the dispute centered on Netanyahu’s instruction for unspecified military action that defense officials believed could lead to a swift confrontation with Iran shortly before the election. The military censor cleared the report for publication. Army Radio subsequently reported similar details, citing two senior security officials.

Netanyahu denied a clash during an appearance on Channel 14’s “The Patriots” and said there was “an attempt to prevent Iran from interfering with Israel’s elections.” He also said: “The Left will not eliminate the nuclear threat — Iran will destroy us”.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said: “Reports of a rift between the political leadership and the IDF over Iran are completely baseless and false.” He said coordination between Netanyahu, himself and the IDF on Iran had been full since he took office, crediting it with unprecedented historic achievements for Israel’s security and saying security remained their sole guiding consideration.

“I state unequivocally that Israel had no intention of initiating an attack on Iran before the elections,” Katz said. “We made clear that if Iran attacks Israel, we will respond with great force.” He accused opposition figures of exploiting the reports to attack him and Netanyahu and question their judgment while they could not publicly discuss details of the Iranian issue, calling that conduct “shameful and irresponsible.”

 Prime Minister’s Office rejects CNN strike report: The Prime Minister’s Office dismissed as “fake news” CNN’s report that Israel had prepared to strike Iran in recent days but delayed after Washington asked it to wait and signaled the possibility of a joint operation later. A senior cabinet official also said the report was false.

According to CNN, Netanyahu has been pushing for renewed strikes, but U.S. President Trump has withheld approval ahead of the U.S. midterm elections. The network said Israel’s need for U.S. missile defense support, with its defensive munitions strained by the war, partly explained the delay. “The plans are ready, waiting for Trump’s approval. It could be after the midterms,” a source familiar with the plans told CNN.

CNN also cited a conversation between Zamir and the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff in which it was argued that an attack would negatively affect the elections. The network reported that the U.S. military was ready to launch an attack within 96 hours of receiving an order from Trump.

️ New York Times reports advancing Iranian assassination plots: The New York Times reported a growing risk of renewed full-scale war between the United States and Iran, citing U.S. intelligence indicating that Tehran is advancing assassination plots against American officials, while Iranian leaders anticipate another major U.S.-Israeli offensive.

According to the Times, U.S. officials believe several Iranian plots targeting American diplomats, including ambassadors across the Middle East, and officials on U.S. soil have moved closer to execution. The threats have prompted heightened security measures, including the withdrawal of B-1 bombers from RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom.

The report also said U.S. Central Command has expanded its potential target list in Iran to include energy infrastructure and facilities critical to the country’s economy.
