IDF STRIKES TERROR OPERATIVES EMERGING FROM KHAN YOUNIS TUNNEL: IDF troops identified three Palestinian terror operatives emerging from a tunnel shaft in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis on Sunday, according to the military. The shaft was west of the Yellow Line, on the Hamas-controlled side.
An aircraft struck the shaft and the three operatives shortly afterward, with the IDF reporting hits on the operatives. The military said secondary explosions following the strike indicated weapons inside the tunnel.
IDF and Shin Bet eliminate two Hamas commanders: The IDF and Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) said they eliminated Mohammed Halawa, a commander in Hamas’ military intelligence apparatus, and Ahmed Zahir Fuad Abu-Odeh, an engineering commander in Hamas’ military wing.
Halawa was eliminated in an aerial strike in Gaza City on Saturday. Abu-Odeh was eliminated in an aerial strike on Thursday.
According to the joint statement, both terrorists advanced attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians throughout the war, particularly recently, and worked to restore the Hamas terrorist organization’s military capabilities in systematic violation of the ceasefire. The strikes were conducted to remove the threats they posed.
️ Interceptor launched toward aerial target in southern Lebanon: An interceptor was launched overnight toward a suspicious aerial target identified in an area of southern Lebanon where IDF soldiers are operating. No sirens sounded, in accordance with protocol.
There were also renewed reports of air-defense activity in northern Israel.
❌ Troops down Gaza-bound drone near Nahal Oz: IDF troops downed a drone overnight as it attempted to fly from Israel into the Gaza Strip, the military said. It was brought down over Israeli territory near Kibbutz Nahal Oz, and its payload is being examined.
The drone appeared to be a DJI Flycart or a similar heavy-duty model capable of carrying loads weighing dozens of kilograms.
There have been frequent attempts in recent years to smuggle weapons and drugs into Israel by drone across the Jordanian and Egyptian borders, alongside an unknown number of attempts to fly contraband from Israel into Gaza. According to the IDF, suspects on the Israeli side load drones with weapons or drugs and fly them across the Gaza border.
