Iran designates British military branches as terrorist organizations: Iran has designated the British Royal Navy and Royal Air Force as ‘terrorist organizations’ and classified the United Kingdom’s foreign intelligence service, MI6, as a ‘hostile group’.
️ Artillery training facility to support new weapons systems: The Defense Ministry’s Defense Procurement Directorate, in cooperation with the IDF Ground Forces, has signed a 15-year agreement with Elbit Systems worth approximately NIS 600 million to establish a dedicated training facility for Artillery Corps commanders and combat soldiers.
The facility will support the corps’ new “Ro’em” (SIGMA) artillery gun and “Lahav” (PULS) rocket launcher system ahead of their full entry into operational service. Led by the directorate’s deputy director for land procurement, the contract covers advanced training infrastructure, classrooms, driving and mission simulators, instruction, maintenance and comprehensive logistical support.
The ministry says the facility will help soldiers use the systems’ full operational capabilities, shorten qualification and training periods, improve professional standards and reduce costs, resource use and maintenance demands on operational platforms.
Defense Ministry Deputy Director General and Defense Procurement Directorate head Ze’ev Landau said the agreement reflects the ministry’s strategy of improving operational preparedness, strengthening Israeli industry and ensuring long-term technological and logistical support for field forces. He said combining simulation technologies with sustained support would help the Artillery Corps realize the new systems’ firepower potential “while reducing costs and making optimal use of resources.”
Boaz Cohen, general manager of Elbit Systems’ Land and IMI Division, said the company had developed what he described as one of the world’s most advanced Ground Forces training systems.
“The artillery school and the training system for Artillery Corps combat soldiers will enable the corps to provide high-quality, efficient training to maintain its firepower systems at the highest level of readiness.”
欄 Netanyahu defends Deri and Shas partnership: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Aryeh Deri had stood firm for years against relentless attacks by the media and the left, whom he accused of wanting to destroy Shas. He accused them of extreme hypocrisy for now being willing to promise the ultra-Orthodox the moon and the stars to bring them into their ranks.
Netanyahu described Deri and Shas as important partners of his and of the right-wing bloc in governing the country. He said Deri makes a significant contribution to Israel’s security through his work in the Security Cabinet.
Amit Segal interpreted Netanyahu’s message as expressing trust in Deri but less trust in United Torah Judaism.
️ Party meetings and Segal’s assessment of election surprises: Members of Eisenkot’s Yashar party faction are meeting. A coordination meeting between the leaders of the Joint List and Ra’am is also taking place, for the first time since the elections.
Amit Segal said every election has one big surprise and two smaller ones. He identified the Arab vote as the big surprise, and Shas falling to six seats and Netanyahu’s bloc overtaking Eisenkot’s bloc as the smaller surprises.
