đïž Parties clash over the investigation: Likud and Religious Zionism accused Baharav-Miara of blocking scrutiny of suspected foreign election interference. Religious Zionism called on Solberg to remove her from involvement if Ziniâs reported allegations were accurate.
Likud alleged that she was restricting national security investigative methods, concealing the security nature of the case and improperly extending parliamentary immunity to aides. It cited Avigdor Liebermanâs reported information about Palestinian Authority funding sources and joined the Lavi organizationâs demand for investigations of Arab lawmakers and their aides.
Both parties invoked the Military Advocate General affair, and Likud also cited the spyware scandal, in alleging a recurring pattern of obstruction. These remain political allegations, which her office denied.
Arab party leaders rejected the reported investigations as an attempt to delegitimize their voters and representation. Abbas said neither he nor his Raâam colleagues feared an investigation and that they were prepared to appear before law enforcement in accordance with the Attorney Generalâs and judiciaryâs directives.
Abbas called on state authorities to respect votersâ choices and follow the law and established procedures. The Joint List accused Netanyahu and Zini of turning Arab citizensâ votes into a security issue, alleged that Zini was acting politically on Netanyahuâs behalf, and pledged to defend its representation and work to replace the government.
Gadi Eisenkot warned Zini against political considerations influencing his office: âWoe to anyone who compromises the authority and integrity of their position for political considerations.â
Likud, in turn, accused Eisenkot, Yair Golan and other opposition leaders of incitement against security chiefs and alleged that they were seeking to prevent the truth from emerging. The competing accounts dispute both the investigationâs evidentiary basis and the political impartiality of those handling it.
Journalist Josh Breiner separately reported that the Shin Bet and police arrested Abd Abu Shehadeh in Jaffa on suspicion of security-related offenses. Abu Shehadeh is a media personality, Balad activist and head of the cityâs Muslim Administration. Whether his arrest is connected to the allegations surrounding Election Day incidents remains unclear.
đïž Government-formation consultations move forward: Itamar Ben Gvir officially announced that his party would recommend Benjamin Netanyahu. Joint List leaders met Yair Golan and said: âOur voters sent us to replace the government, not to bring it back to power shortly afterward.â
Ahead of consultations scheduled to begin today, Herzog said he had broad discretion in choosing a Knesset member to form a government. He said he would hold rigorous discussions, with additional consultation rounds if necessary.
Eisenkot said his party would pursue a national emergency government and immediate Knesset action, including electing a new Speaker, advancing legislation and repealing laws it considers dangerous to democracy.
He described Netanyahu as heading a caretaker government supported by only 46 Knesset members as of Tuesday. He accused Likud of undermining the election results and said political pressure would not deter efforts to replace Netanyahu.
Yair Lapid said any possibility of a unity government with Netanyahu had been eliminated.
Eisenkot also criticized Netanyahu over reported changes to the framework of U.S.âIsrael strategic relations. Calling the relationship central to Israelâs national security, he said the defense establishment had learned of the changes through the media alongside the public. He argued that Netanyahu could no longer be trusted to lead.
